Individual instruction provides the unique opportunity for participants of any age to meet weekly with an instructor who specializes on his or her instrument. Individual attention helps the untrained to establish a firm musical foundation and provides the advanced musician the environment necessary to grasp and refine the more difficult technical and musical concepts.
Kevin teaches all levels of trumpet, including beginning through intermediate levels on trombone, baritone, french horn, and tuba. His advanced students are consistently awarded superior ratings at state solo and ensemble contests. Many of his students have continued music in college either as music majors or as an activity Kevin also teaches electric bass to students wishing to excel at playing bass for school jazz ensembles. He believes students can learn self discipline, commitment, and develop positive self esteem through making music.
Kevin Hall teaches students from diverse backgrounds and schools:
Explorer Middle School, Gateway Middle School, Heatherwood Middle School, Home School-Connections ,Valley View Middle School, Voyager Middle School, Cascade High School, Glacier Peak High School, Jackson High School, Kamiak High School, and Snohomish High School.
Kevin periodically gathers together young musicians to create unique performance ensemble programs which involve classical, jazz, and contemporary music styles. Recent examples include a Latin jazz performance ensemble (see Mill Creek Music Company), and a classical *trumpet octet* which achieved a 3rd Place Award in 2009 at the Washington Music Educators Solo and Ensemble Competition.
Why music? . . . so students will be human, so they will recognize beauty, so they will have something to cling to, so they will have more love, more compassion, more gentleness, more good . . . in short, more life!
